WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?
Hi, my name is Edda. In February 2009 I read an ad by Dover Pride calling for submissions on the a-n magazine website and, being an artist based in Dover, I applied for the brief and submitted my proposal. My proposal sparked enough interest for me to be shortlisted and I went to the interview in March. The next day I was told I had been chosen to work on the hoardings and a fellow artist, Jonathan Wright, was chosen to work on the shop windows. Very exciting news indeed.

Work to be carried out March/April 2009. Completion deadline 1st May 2009.
The Project
To produce a selection of image or text based works which can be reproduced for use on hoardings and shop windows over the next few years.
To adopt a creative approach to interacting with Dover’s community in the production of this work.
To work with the Dover Pride team, who will be responsible for the production and installation of the selected works.
Background
Dover has an ambitious regeneration agenda which is being led by the Dover Pride regeneration partnership. The partnership is a collection of key public sector organisations and includes representation from business and the community. A number of key sites are being developed, supported and underpinned by a public realm strategy and thematic working groups.
Dover has an emerging cultural strategy and will be one of the first towns to benefit from the DCMS/CABE Sea Change programme for cultural regeneration in seaside towns.
The town centre has a number of empty shops and the regeneration of the town will see an increasing number of hoardings appearing around sites.
